The highland town of Mestia in Georgia can be found on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Order (UNESCO)’s list of World Heritage Sites with its defensive stone towers marking it aside as a location of outstanding universal value. Recently, Georgia embarked upon a varied scheme to develop tourism in Mestia, and Berlin-based architecture practice J. Mayer H. Architects was commissioned to design a new airport to improve accessibility to the area, currently being utilised as a ski resort. >>>
