Africa's Tallest Skyscraper, Casablanca, Morocco |
|
Construction will begin next year on Africa's tallest building – a 540-metre-high skyscraper in Morocco. The 114-storey tower in Casablanca will be more than twice the height of the 223-metre Carlton Centre in Johannesburg, which has been the tallest building on the continent since its completion in 1973.
Middle East Development LLC, the Dubai-based company owned by Saudi businessman Sheikh Tarek Binladen, is behind the project. It is expected to cost $1 billion (£637 million) to build and is due for completion in 2018. |
