The Ascent of the Midwest

The Ascent of the Midwest
The opening of The Ascent by Daniel Libeskind of Studio Daniel Libeskind was celebrated with a look to the future of architecture and a belief that this design will be a “new benchmark for residential architecture in the United States”. The tower is situated beside the Roebling Bridge which was the prototype for New York’s Brooklyn Bridge and it is hoped that The Ascent will be similarly inspirational.

In the spirit of looking ahead a time capsule was created at the event with contributions from ‘Greater Cincinnatians’, including Daniel Libeskind himself, to let future generations see the intent and direction of those who directly changed the region’s skyline.

The elegantly curved building has 70 luxury homes and penthouses each with a view over the Ohio River. The building represents a modern way of living creating a community with access to private amenities including a ‘Wellness Centre’, a wine cellar, theatre and library complete with fireplace.

In contrast with the rustic surrounding buildings the glass and sporadically panelled structure provides a focal point for surrounding residents. Tom Banta, President of the buildings developer, Corporex said: “The Ascent is proof that residential architecture can be art on a grand scale.”
