A consortium headed by RINA, featuring Zaha Hadid Architects alongside partners like Studio Plicchi, WSP, and others, has secured victory in the international design competition for the new Grande Ospedale della Malpensa. This initiative merges the facilities of Gallarate and Busto Arsizio hospitals into a unified 90,000-square-meter complex that will cater to almost one million people in the region between Milan and Varese. The building adopts a streamlined configuration with five floors above ground and one below, arranging departments according to the level of care required, from emergencies and surgeries to outpatient services and rehabilitation.
