Heatherwick Studio's 62,000-seat stadium for Birmingham City FC features a steep, continuous bowl for intense atmosphere and twelve giant brick chimneys that nod to the city’s industrial past. The chimneys support the roof, improve ventilation, and house stairs; one contains the UK's highest pub. A retractable pitch and roof allow major concerts. Surrounding public squares with markets and cafés will stay active year-round. The stadium is planned to open in 2030–2031.
