Information Centre, Shanghai, China
Resembling a blossoming flower, Paris-based Odile Decq Benoît Cornette’s Information Centre design in Shanghai welcomes visitors with large opened petals allowing the heart of the building, a black glass pyramid, to be visible from outside. Shining in the day and translucent in the night, the interior lighting makes the structure sparkle.

From the pavilion, there are two ways to guide visitors inward. On the right, large steps take them to the hall, 1.5m above the pond level. These steps also provide seating while waiting for transport. In the hall visitors can find everything they need on the information desk while the multifunction room is set at 4.5m below the pond level. Although this level is under the water it is not a basement. The visitors travel through the space by long steps and stairs, which connect the entrance level and the multifunction room level in the same volume. These steps can be easily transformed to organize different exhibition spaces. This big room is also directly connected to the outside by a left side entrance where VIPs are invited to enter from the pavilion to find their hall located near the offices.
